Everest Region  

The highest place on earth, the Mt. Everest alone gives one a reason for trekking in this reason. The region is second most popular trekking region of Nepal, the most popular being the Annapurna region. Thousands of trekkers & mountaineers have visited this region ever since the news of Sir Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay’s accession to the world’s highest peak was announced by the BBC in 1951. The Everest & Khumbu region is famous for its tall mountains as well as rich Sherpa culture with their magnificent Mahayana Buddhist monasteries. The sudden change in altitude makes a sudden change in the vegetation & its wildlife as well. The Mt. Everest & its surrounding region now lies inside the Sagarmatha National Park which has also been recognized as the World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
