Trekking Permits

Trekkers in Nepal are free to trek on normal trekking routes including the most famous ones like Annapurna, Everest, and Langtang regions. However, certain sensitive regions were restricted for the foreigners until recently to conserve the local environment & culture. The government has lifted all restrictions recently, but foreigners are still required to obtain permits from the Department of Immigration at Bhrikuti Mandap of Kathmandu. The Nepal Government grants permits to the restricted areas like Dolpa, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, Simikot and Mustanag against the payment of certain fees. Also, only group treks through registered trekking agencies are allowed in the abovementioned restricted areas.

Similarly, entry fees are charged for visiting national parks, conservation areas, & some important archeological sites.
