Getting to Nepal
Since Nepal is a landlocked country, there are only two ways of arriving in Nepal – by air, and by land from India & Tibet (China).

By Air:
All air passengers form foreign countries land in Nepal’s only international airport in Kathmandu – the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Various international airliners like Lufthansa, Indian Airlines, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, etc including Nepal’s national carrier the Nepal Airlines conduct direct flight to Kathmandu form Bangkok, Bombay, Delhi, Calcutta, Dhaka, Frankfurt, Singapore, Lhasa, London, Paris, etc. However, the schedules keep changing; therefore please contact your local agent for the latest schedules.

The easiest route to enter Nepal for the tourists from Europe, Americas, & Australia is via Bangkok, Singapore, and Hong Kong, and from the major Indian cities. However, the European & American tourists heading directly for Nepal find the Delhi route tedious and costly.

By Land:
Most of the tourists using the land routes are Indians, and foreigner visiting Nepal via India. The major entry points on the Indo-Nepal border are Kakarbhitta via Darjeeling, Birgunj via Raxaul, Bhairahawa via Gorakhpur, Biratnagar via Jogbani, Mahendra Nagar via Rupaidiya. Those traveling by train from Delhi or Varanasi find the Gorakhpur-Sunauli-Bhairahawa route most convenient.

The road transport is also available from Tibet to Nepal via the Khasa Bazaar on the Nepal-China Border.
