Responsible Travel

A study estimates that 1.5 billion people will be traveling worldwide by 2020. This means that apart from the conventional definition of fun & adventure for the tourists and just another lucrative source of income for the hosts, tourism industry now needs to accommodate other factors as well. Now both the hosts & guests are expected see that their endeavor remains environmentally, culturally, ecologically, & ethically responsible.

Some points on responsible travel:

• Travel only established trails and roads.

• Avoid air conditioners, electricity & fuel appliances, bon-fires, & other extravaganzas – live a   natural life at least while you’re holidaying.

• While using water for any purpose including water, pay attention to conservation & local   practices.

• Keep a distance from the wild-life – do not humanize them.

• Don't buy souvenirs made of ivory, tortoise shells, coral, reptile skins, cat pelts, rare woods or   other endangered animals or plants.

• Eat low on the food chain.

• Support local environmental and conservation efforts.

• Turn off lights, fans, air conditioners and appliances when not in use.

• Heat and use hot water for bathing in accordance with local conservation practices.

• Use human powered transport (walk, bike, rickshaw or canoe) or use high occupancy vehicles   (public transports, bus, trains, collective taxis, etc.).

• Use disposable & bio-degradable materials
