Bhutan Introduction  

Bhutanese people may be divided into three main ethnic categories. The majority of Bhutan’s people belong to the Drupka ethnicity. These are Mongloid people, mostly inhabiting in the central parts of Bhutan. The ruling manarch is also a Drukpa. These people follow Bhuddism speak the official language Dzonkha & wear a particular official dress that your see in pictures.

The people of Nepali ethnicity inhabit the southern Bhutan. They are mostly the Hindus. They also speak Nepali.In the northern Himalayan region live the nomadic yak herdsmen. The Sharchops, who are also believed to be earliest settlers, are found mostly in the east.

The people of Western Bhutan & Southern Bhutan are also known as the Ngalungs, & the Lhotshampas. Interestingly, some people in India’s eastern region also call the Bhutanese people as Bhupalis.
